Desde o seu lançamento, a série se restabeleceu em primeiro lugar no Top 10 indiano. Ambientado entre 1920 e 1947, quando o subcontinente foi dividido em Índia e Paquistão, a primeira temporada da luxuosa história se passa no distrito de Hermand, em Lahore, na Índia britânica, um cenário tawaif. Assim como as gueixas japonesas, os tawaifs eram treinados em música e dança e eram convidados pela nobreza. They still have to dance and sing, but this time for the producers and not for the nawabs. So that’s the second season we are planning, let’s see where it goes,” Bhansali added.
